First person doesn't work, you transition in third person anyways during battle.

Pokemon visible doesn't work either because of respawn and encounter rate and what not.

I do like making the games slightly less linear. Obviously not to the level of Xenoblade 2 where you may get wiped out if you wander into a higher difficulty place by accident.

I actually really like things like that. Sure, there need to be obvious signs that you're entering a new area, but I really wouldn't mind easy access to some high-level areas. It makes the world feel more real to me, if that makes any sense.

Make it so that exploring actually rewards you (or give us the option to explore in the first place).
I understand that the smartphone generation has the attention span of a goldfish, but they should know that there's more to their audience. And who knows, maybe Pokemon grabs their attention well enough that even the ADHD kids will learn to appreciate exploration.

Honestly I was in the camp of ultra beasts being uncatchable before the data mine and that was one of the more appealing thoughts.
Bosses with stats that didn't have to be in line with regular Mon so they could have a total 1000 bst or something.

That's the sane interpretation, but I'm pretty sure that a lot of the people who cry for open worlds really mean a truly open world. Just look at the popularity of BotW, Skyrim and Fallout 3/4.
It really wouldn't surprise me if people want what amounts to a Skyrim with a Pokemon skin.

Don't care about any of the rest of the stuff in the OP or having an 'open world' (though larger areas would be nice) but I have always wanted a more lively world where you can actually see these creatures living in it.

I don't think you're being close minded, I think that some people simply want to stray too far from the original formula.
I think Pokemon needs some sort of randomness in order to work, otherwise things like certain pokes being rare would lose meaning.
Something like having moving, shaking spots in the grass denote encounters could work, I think. On the other hand, I don't think that showing what you'll be fighting beforehand would work, not for regular encounters at least.

The same way hundreds of other (and better) rpgs are able to balance their games around having visible overworld encounters. We've seen many rpgs transition from fully random encounters to visible encounters without losing anything meaningful in the process, including series that Pokemon was inspired by like Dragon Quest and SMT.

It's not really that complicated or integral to the experience at all.

None of those games revolve around capturing your opponents though (well, SMT does, but the overworld sprites aren't indicative of what you'll actually be fighting and enemies can actually have parties, so randomness is maintained).
I don't mind them moving away from random encounters, but they need a way to prevent you from knowing what you'll be fighting beforehand.

Otherwise, why would there even be encounter tables? If it wasn't important, every Pokemon would have the exact same encounter rate.
If you could see what you'll be fighting, the whole thing just degenerates into exit/enter areas until you spot what you're aiming for.

Say you're on route 2. You look around and you see 6 patrat, 5 pidgey, 6 zigzagoon, 6 wurmple and 1 ralts.
It would allow you to completely ignore the fodder and go for the ralts, as if they were on display on a shop. Defeating the whole challenge of looking for rare monsters.

Make them spawn in hidden or out of the way places, make them more likely to run away from the player if not approached quickly or carefully (maybe even have different ways of getting close to different Pokemon, such as having to lure them with bait or sneak up on them, etc), reduce their spawn frequency, make them more difficult to capture, and anything else the designers could come up with that I haven't thought up.

I disagree. I believe you shouldn't mess with the core mechanics that make a particular game series. When it comes down to that, you should create side games, like mystery dungeon, a completely new franchise or just stop producing that game altogether when it stops selling.
Making drastic changes to a game and still trying to sell it to regular customers as the same product they're used to buying is wrong.

I don't disagree with making an open world pokémon game, just don't call it one of the main games.

I guess I don't want open world, but I do want some openness, especially compared to the last 2 gens that just fucking hold your hand the entire time. I get that Pokemon is for kids but I feel like I have no freedom. It doesn't help that Gen 7's games have NPC stopping you in your tracks every 10 seconds to explain game mechanics for 10 minutes. At least let you skip stuff or carve your own path instead of being railroaded to do every event in a specific order going a specific direction to accomplish a simplistic goal.
And it gives you the illusion of choice by having your character have different dialogue but pretty much all of it is interchangeable and one just makes your character seem a little more standoffish than normal.

Don't worry, they won't have that. Gamefreak skirted by the entire 3DS life cycle by claiming they're just not used to developing for a new system. They'll do it with the switch too. I wouldn't be surprised if a switch game ended up being in Orre, a region with no wild pokemon, just so they can avoid extra work.

As opposed to me just spamming a patch of grass until I get I want and then using repels and never fighting a single wild mon for the rest of the game? If I saw mons on the screen I could at least make choices like "Oh, that one gives a lot of exp, I'll fight it."

Also retarded for the same reason as above. Generally with open world games you always sacrifice quality for quantity, I'd rather have a much more focused adventure.

1st person is a on another level of retardation. I don't understand how anyone would want this and honestly I don't think I've seen anyone want this before. Most people would prefer 3rd person with free camera control though instead of fixed camera which I agree with.

Now see I agree with you up until this point. Random Encounters has been an obsolete game mechanic for years now and it's baffling that games still use this shit. Roaming pokemon with their own little animations and interactions would make the world feel way more alive. At the very least they should get rid of that system in favor of physical encounters like rustling grass moving toward you when it notices you.

Its the simple things. The Newer games don't have many roadblocks anymore, but if, for example, there's a bush blocking your path, you shouldn't need cut to cut it down if you have a fire type in your party that can just burn it, just little things like that.

People have suggested that you could have trainers teams or at least the important battles be based on how many gym badges you have or whatever the next thing is.
The more badges you have the higher level and more Pokemon your opponent has.

Alternatively do what other people say which is have you limited to how many Pokemon the opponent has to keep it fair.

Pokemon is a game that benefits from this, it's all about the adventure and part of an adventure is choosing what to explore next.

Not every game needs open world, Uncharted, Last of us, Tomb Raider are story focused and they would be ruined from open world
I'd argue some games that started open world would be better linear like Assassins Creed as it's entirely story focused.

Since Pokemon is not a story game and nobody plays it for story it can only benefit from letting you choose which town or dungeon to go next.

It could also make memorable legendary encounters, imagine actually being able to see the legendary beasts just standing and you try to sneak up before it runs, you could add safari zone rules like throwing bait and rocks, have the Pokedex tell you what types of food Pokemon likes so if you see something that flees you can distract it with bait.

Unfortunately you guys are overthinking this game. They're not going to drop you in an openworld like BotW, because in Zelda there was an assumption that the player has actually, you know, PLAYED a videogame before in their life. As we've seen with recent generations, pokemon games could almost be rated "C" (the rating lower than E in the US) because they want borderline toddler aged kids to be able to pick it up and play it. I think that even if open world is the next logical step, for the franchise, that style of gameplay would be overwhelming for the 4-7 year old crowd they cater to.

I don't really expect these changes since like you said GF caters to people who never played a game, I'm just saying the changes are possible and none of them ruin what Pokemon is suppose to be. The only way it would happen is if another monster catching game blows up doing all that stuff and actually takes sales from Pokemon which may not happen.
