Since X/Y, the Pokemon universe is split into two major categories: A timeline with mega evolution, and a timeline without mega evolution

Archie and Maxie in the RR episode are from the timeline without mega evolution, meaning they come from the original R/S/E games and not the remakes. Hence why Groudon and Kyogre don't go primal when you battle them

We've gone much further into the rabbit hole now anon, because SM is just as canon as USUM now.

Although they've never been able to make up their mind on what is canon, sometimes it was the third version, and sometimes it was the first releases that they considered it.

Honestly a good majority of rpgs and games dont and still make lots of sequels constantly.

Most FF games have fuck all to do with eachother and regularly jump between medieval swords and magic and industrial cyberpunk stuff between games.

There’s thousands of universes. All are canon, and all are based on which versions you played/liked the most.
Only two versions is that Zinnia bullshit and should be disregarded.
Example universe:
>Y/HG/S/D/W-2/Y/UM
The only restriction is W must be followed by W2 due to how the dragons work... but everything is up for grabs and everything is canon.

Per the original timeline, S/M should be anywhere from 15-25 years after the events of RSE.

Wally not aging in that time at all, while Red and Blue get obviously much older, means GF fucked up on the details. The multiverse is their escape clause for this and any future mistakes.

Exactly this. You'd think that would be obvious since USUM made a game out of traveling to different universes.

You can argue that remakes and originals are set in different universes, like RSE and ORAS, but nothing separates the different installments from each other. XY could easily take place in the same universe as RSE, it was ORAS that changed the mega evo lore.
