Not only do you have +1 attack, but your 150 bp rock STAB now has 107 accuracy and literally no drawback outside of low PP. You also have ludicrous amounts of coverage: EQ, aqua tail, iron head, all the fucking fangs, etc.
If you build your team in a way that you have safe outs to the few things that could threaten aero (scizor's bullet punch, koko's speed tie or scarf) then you have something that can hardly be countered. Not saying aero would necessarily end top OU, but it would be very damn threatening if you fuck around it, just like mega pinsir.
