>>34618073Well, it is basically a Pokemon game on a console. If you played Pokemon any of the handheld games, you'll feel right at home here.
Graphics are sure of a hell of a step up up from its handheld counterparts, and the soundtrack is sure hell thing you will carry with you long after you turn off the console. In other words, it's kickass. While the graphics have aged somewhat since the game's release, it can be a rather comfy game in its environments.
Gameplay is essentially the same as those from something like Sapphire, Emerald, and Ruby, save there is a shadow mechanic related to the game's plot. Put simply, someone is trying to weaponize Pokemon by closing their emotions off, putting them into a shadow state where they have a different moveset that is practically good against anything that is thrown at them. However, they cannot be leveled up in this state. Which means you'll need to purify all of the Pokemon you snag at one point or another. Which brings me to another mechanic, in which you can snag shadow Pokemon if they are detected.
As a matter of fact, they're the only ones you can catch. No wild Pokemon to be seen for some time.
If you don't mind playing Pokemon with nicer graphics, I say go for it. If not, stay away.
