I never noticed how much with exception of Gallade that the Gardevoir line reminds me of umbrellas.
Ralts' massive umbrella like hair, Kirlia's ballerina skirt poofed out like an open umbrella, and mega gardevoir's dress makes me think of those weird looking nearly clear conical umbrellas that are meant to cover your entire upper body.
Now i describe it that way Gallade could represent the canes within umbrellas and the gallant men who would use them as weapons in the victorian era.
They're all sexualized anthro umbrellas.
