Starters that aren't animal-people like the last two gens. Better yet, have the starters not be based on animals at all. Just make them "monsters" like bulbasaur and Chikorita, where it's not clear what they're supposed to be.

Early game ice types that don't suck and have decent speed, so the small children can catch one and not be stuck on the first boss forever. I love Ice types but I hate how they're usually only available very late in the game.

A new Eevee, preferably Dragon or Poison type.

Main game is longer, have the Elite 4 be around level 80. Postgame goes to level 100.

A Fire/Grass type, preferably a really bulky one with a high HP stat, that would be fun to train.

I'm digging this ideas,I also would add:
>Double,Triple and Rotation sprinkled in many routes for variety,even moreso than how they were in Emerald(Doubles) and Gen 5 (Triple/Rotation)
>Gym Leaders return,in conjunction with totem Pokemon which could be end dungeon boss fights
>More secret dungeons and optional routes to discover in the main campaign
>Return of a Join Avenue-esque place accessible at any moment from a menu like Festival Plaza,which will host all types of shops by default,that are improvable like in the Join Avenue and not to be replaced with a superior version like In FP
>Similarly,a pocket secret base accessible at any moment that other players cam see too,or simply the secret bases scattered in the overworld like in Gen 3
>Expand on features that feel half baked (Megas/Z-Moves/Ultra Beasts) instead of adding continously new stuff

Just like in Pokemon Soul Silver and Hearth Gold, but instead of just one pokemon it would be nice to see the entire team or a part of it (2-3 pokemon).
Having your pokemon following you was one of my favorite feacture of pokemon Soul Silver and Hearth Gold
