What themes could pokemon explore with genetic engineering other than "We created the most dangerous creature in existence and oh no now it's evil"?

pokemon genetically modified to have the same abilities of a second pokemon by using the dna of the other pokemon but both pokemon have to be in the same type

I find it very interesting that humans can just, you know, MAKE Pokemon. And they've apparently been doing it for hundreds of years! Where's the boundary? How far can manmade Pokemon go before it gets too out of hand?

I mean, Porygon was built for digital use and space jobs, but then Porygon-Z happened and it's all glitched up and everything. That's just a thing now? People are ok with that? How does that flow with society? These are the questions I'm asking in a monster-collecting children's game.

The saddest thing is that I question the same things and because genetic engineering and Frankenstein-like stories are my most favorite kind of storytelling trope I make headcanons on the creation of certain manmade mons. Sometimes I wish I wasnt this autistic

One direction they could take it is creating Pokemon out of other Pokemon which are designed to counter dangerous Pokemon. I actually have an idea for a game like this where certain underappreciated Pokemon are fused in order to provide counters to malignant legendaries (Mewtwo, Kyogre and Groudon when angry, UBs, etc.).
