pokemon battles in the anime are nothing like the game battles. pokemon don't alternate whacking each other and not dodging. it's fair to assume things like stats that make darkrai and latios better in the games don't really exist in the anime either.

It's safe to say that Heracross is absolutely not level 100. It's at minimum 55, because it has Megahorn. So 63 sounded like a fair level.

EVs? Do you think Ash knows what EV training is? He's a scrub. Plus, if he doesn't know about EV training, then he knows even less about IV breeding/chaining.

There's also the episode with Erika who was petty as fuck. All Ash did was insult her, but nothing that would really warrant the "fuck you, no Badge for you."

Nostalgia or not, the early anime was a dick for Ash. He also earned only half of his Badges, the other were given to him because "muh deeds"

Mad? Not at all. I was greatly dissapointed because ash lost but at least he went down in a blaze of glory. By defeating tobias drakrai, ash proved that he was an exceptionally strong trainer. Alain on the other side was pure cocktease. Even though every thing pointed towards ash winning the league, the writers decided to yank the dog's chain at the very end.

Charizard taking a nap mid battle was legit. Ash was shit-tier back in Kanto and half of his badges were pity bullshit (Cascade, Rainbow, Marsh and Earth). So he technically only had 4 and wasn't good enough for Charizard.

Stats are more fluid. In the games you get hard stats to mons, the anime they have emphasis on certain stats like speed, but things like HP, defense, and attack power depends on the willpower of the mon itself.

That Ursaring is a fucking tank. Took damage from Pikachu, Buizel, and Staraptor in the Lake Verity match before finally losing to Chimchar.

Meanwhile Paul's Froslass and Ninjask were so frail.

Torkoal was one of Ash's most powerful Fire-type Pokemon and it nearly defeated a Registeel.

Swellow has one of the best battle records out of all of Ash's Pokemon. Prior to its loss to Latios, it either won at least once or tied in every major battle it has been in since it evolved.

Gible is just there for Gen 4 promotion, but it defeated a Dusknoir that beat Noctowl and Donphan.

I loved the Tobias fight when I saw it. I didn't care about Ash winning the league, but seeing him take on and beat legendaries was cool. What pissed me off was, after watching Pikachu score a double knockout against a (undamaged?) Latios, Pikachu lost his next fight to Trip's fresh-from-the-lab snivy. I've never gotten over how stupid that was.
