Psyduck is Masuda's favorite Pokemon.

Magnemite is popular in Japan.

I don't know jackshit about Zubat.

But Pikachu is not on there. Why wasn't it in the B2W2 PokeDex? Hell, it has two fucking cameos in Unova!

Zubat is because Game Freak are too stupid to just make regional bats along with the regional rodents, birds and bugs.

I used it in Black 2 specifically because it was a Pokemon you always see but never really bother to use.

And of course I'm using it again in Ultra Moon because I found a shiny one.

The problem with using Golduck in-game is that there's always plenty of better Water-types available. I don't think Golduck's better than any starter. Meanwhile, Crobat/Magnezone still manage to be both good and unique, heck even Golbat/Magneton aren't that bad.
