you cannot back up your save file from your physical game cart, without the use of a hacked 3ds, or shilling out a solid $50 or more on japanese cable, adaptor, thing, that may or may not work. neither of which you can afford.
however, an r4 will NOT allow you to backup the game, but it WILL allow you to play thought pokemon white and anything else you like, at a very affordable 15 bucks or so.

if you want to backup your physical copy of the game's save data for the purpose of security, or editing the save to say, give you all shines or lots of masterballs, you need a hacked 3ds, or the shitty japanese $60 adaptor thingy.. happy now?
