they weren't perfect games at all but in my book they are the least disappointing from the 3DS era, if only they wouldn't have got the shaft in order to make "Lille: The game" it would have been great

For me, the main issue was that it felt like they funneled all the budget into the first third of the game and then ran out of money.

There's significant stretches of land and different events between gyms going on for the first part of the game, up until you hit about the third gym. After that they just fly at you one by one incredibly quickly without much memorable happening. The plot loses momentum, the Elite Four challenge feels incredibly flaccid and boring thanks to them only having four Pokes (coupled with the "face them in any order" thing BW introduced), and then there's just hardly any post-game. Dozens of already barebones plot threads go unresolved, the Maison's kinda shit and then that's just it - the games over unless you're a diehard online battle fag or you're 100%ing the Pokedex.

A lot of people like to cite things like the battle models or "casualization" as the reasons for Gen 6 being shit, but I don't think that's it. Since the move to full 3D, Pokemon games lost a lot of the post-game and the pacing of the main campaign has taken a dive to match.

I agree with you on a few things OP. They have two of the most beautiful box legends in the series, the huge pokedex was awesome and great for new players and mega evolutions introduced awesome new designs for your bros that weren't permanent So if you don't like them it doesn't matter. Gen 6 defenitely gets more hate then it deserves but the lack of post game and then almost complete disregard of zygarde was sad imo.

Sure. Definitely has quality over quantity working in its favor, and the trio of Xernas, Yveltal, and Zygarde are quite nice.

Maybe only design-wise. Otherwise, their plans are muddy and filled with holes, and the admins are probably the worst in the series. They should restricted them to Xerosic and Malva. Lysandre was pretty cool if, again, muddy.

Hmm... no. Between a subpar evil team and rivals and weak NPCs in general, and a lack of concrete lore for the Legendaries, not to mention all the obviously cut content, it feels like one of the more unfulfilling stories.

I actually agree with you OP, I didn't really pay much attention to most of the stuff you brought up when I first played it though. The only region I didn't really care for mostly was Unova, but the story was interesting in the region. Just the Pokemon designs for it were a little odd.

Xy has the least amount of new pokemon added than any generation. Sure, a big pokedex but only 71 of those were new. If megas count then the number's more around 80-90 but only once you add in ORAS' additions.

Sun and moon added around 80 plus 10-20 Alolan forms and Black/white added 151 for reference.

The game included some of the most annoying evolution requirements (sylveon, goodra, slurmpuff and aromatisse).

And though i'm glad for the option of leaving the tagalong Lucario on the top of the tower to be forever alone I'm pretty sure there's no reaction from the skater grrl when fighting her later on if you abandoned it.
