Red - Can catch any Pokemon he wants but he only uses 7. He can Mega Evolve his Pokemon though, so he is up there.
Gold - Can use any Pokemon he pleases. Is not required to catch any Legendary or Mythical Pokemon. No Megas either.
Brendan (RSE)- Can catch any Pokemon he pleases. No Megas. No required catches.
Brendan (ORAS) - Gets access to Mega Evolution, including Mega Lati@s, a Mega Starter, and Mega Fucking Rayquaza! Catches Rayquaza and Latios. Probably the strongest.
Lucas - Same as Gold.
Hilbert - Required to catch Zekrom or Reshiram. Other than that he can pick anything he pleases.
Nate - Same as Gold and Lucas.
Calem - Required to catch Xerneas/Yveltal and has access to Mega Lucario and Mega Kanto Starter. Not as strong as Red or Brendan, but stronger than everybody else.
Sun (SM) - Required to catch Solgaleo or Lunala. Has access to Z-Moves. Other than that he can use any Pokemon he pleases.
Sun (US) - Has access to Z-Moves, but can use any Pokemon he pleases.
