I carried this piece of shit all the way through Ruby.

It was so weak, so useless. Hardly did anything except sing, which was just a shittier Hypnosis/Sleep Powder.

But I thought, at some point, it might amount to something. So I trained it and kept it with me through the entire game.

And then it evolved into a fucking DRAGON in the 6th gym.

And it learned Dragon Dance in time for the Elite Four.

And it was still a fucking useless piece of shit.

Anyone else get led on by a specific Pokemon, only to be severely disappointed when you found out they just sucked hard?

Shitty pokemon whose best in game moves are rock slide and brick break. Always manages to leave just enough HP on enemies that they could come back from the brink and KO this shitter.

Yeah, yeah. Quiver Dance and out Tempo Petal Dance is supposed to be great, but Grass is resisted by half the types in the game and there was never an opportunity where i wanted to use her instead of one of my other 5 pokemon unless I wanted to Sleep Powder something. I would've been better off using Roserade, but I try not to use Pokemon I've used before in playthroughs

This thing was awful No HP whatsoever. No Speed whatsoever. Day lycanroc at least managed to get damage on the fucking board. All this thing can learn are Elemental Punches, Shadow Punch and EQ, so it is worse than Golurk in every conceivable way.

I also don't get why Crobat is so popular. It's got a cool design but nothing to write home about. I felt let down when i used it in AS. There aren't enough Fairy0type users in Hoenn so there was never a reason to use its Poison STAB because it could hit Grass-types with its Flying-type moves already. I could've used any other Flying-type and had the same experience or better

Dratini. Tried to use one in ORAS and absolutely hated it. Thing doesn't hit much harder than everything else, has a mediocre level-up movepool, and you don't get Dragonite until the end of the game pretty much.

i had the same story in ruby (altaria), then i used it again in AS (mega) and it saved my ass in the league

i also had problems with lurantis when playing pokemon moon, but i tried it again in pokemon US and it was one of my strongest pokemon

I recently finished a "deliberately subpar team" run of Omega Ruby consisting of Mightyena, Masquerain, Dustox, Magcargo, Minun, and Vileplume (you can do worse, but at that point you're waiting ages for Spinda and Luvdisc), and before that a team of Sceptile, Graveler, Electrode, Seaking, Exploud, and Altaria.

Of that lot, I think Exploud is the only was the only complete fall guy; he is a choice specs carpet bomber and absolutely nothing else, even with an adamant nature. Magcargo comes second, he's a Flame Body punisher with a killer Fire Blast. But beyond that, the run was kind of an eye-opener into just how much Pokemon's explosion of content helps EVERYONE. Masquerain gets Quiver Dance, Mightyena can 1-2 punch with Quick Feet, Seaking has decent coverage now, and Dustox has four move slot syndrome.

And while I haven't used Altaria in the GBA games in quite a while, I'm question this; Altaria has a basically RBY Pokemon stat spread and an EV anywhere is an EV well-spent.

People sleep on Vileplume too often. I used one in Emerald and it surprised me at how reliable it was.

I raised a Slowbro in Ultra Sun. The only disappointing part about him is Slowpoke, who (for some reason) has higher Atk. than Sp.Atk until he evolves. Yet, most of his good STAB moves are Special-oriented (you don't even get Zen Headbutt until a little before he evolves). Killing things with an Atk.-strong Slowpoke using Water Gun and Confusion is an exercise in patience.

Of course, once he evolved, the stats switched back around, and everything's been gravy since then.

It's rock solid, particularly post physical/special attack split. It's just a lesser Venusaur minus Stun Spore.

One of the biggest offenders is the Chikorita line IMO, since it's so bad in GSC. It's a starter, it shouldn't suck this hard in game.

Tried to use an Exploud in OR, and god, it was just so bad.

Golisopod wasn't all it was cracked up to be, unfortunately, even in game.

Same with Kommo-o.

I've sorta had this problem with zigzagoon, sentret, and skitty which sucks because I actually really like them.
When I first played through sapphire I remember catching zigzagoon and skitty because I thought they were both super cute. For the first three gyms zigzagoon/linoone was decent. Skitty sucked but I kept it on my team hoping it would get better when it evolved(which sucked because you only get a moon stone at meteor falls)
After the third gym linoone started to suck but I kept it on my team anyway and eventually it became an HM slave for the rest of the game. I evolved skitty into delcatty and kept it on my team even though I knew it sucked.
Also I ran into a shiny zigzagoon on route 121 but I didn't know shinies were super rare so I ran from it, thinking I'd encounter it again.
In pokemon heart gold I hoped sentret would get better when it evolved into furret but it didn't.

These pokemon are still three of my favorites though. They're so cute that I just can't hate them :3

Like a lot of things in RSE, Altaria's level-up moves are pretty awful. It actually loses a decently-powered STAB Take Down and has Peck/Dragonbreath for STAB until Level 59, where it gets Sky Attack. Alright, let's compare Crobat to other Flying-types.

It's pretty embarrassing when your only decent stats are Attack/Speed and they're still lower than Crobat's. Less bulk and less coverage are pretty bad too. It has STAB Return going for it which is strong, but it's still weaker than Crobat's boosted Acrobatics.

>Pelipper
Supposed to be tanky but due to its mediocre HP it's not actually that much bulkier than Crobat physically and specially it's outright worse. It's a stronger special attacker and Water/Ice coverage is nice, but you can get that from literally any Water-type, which are everywhere in Hoenn.

>Dodrio
Basically Swellow, but slower and stronger. Unfortunately, it only gets Brave Bird through egg moves so it's stuck with Drill Run which is still weaker than boosted Acrobatics. I guess it has... Acupressure?
