Reborn's creator does this, but she kills herself recently in the games.

Unless you're talking about Insurgence (dark/poison volcarona with levitate and holding an item that boosts its defense and special defense by 30% with no drawbacks) or Dark Rising (darugis is a fast mixed attacker with 4 signature moves that give it perfect coverage and each has a high chance of dealing a status condition), I have never seen a rock/fire with water absorb (I mean, insurgence does have a mega-magcargo that is literally this, but it isn't in the champion's team).

As long as they're not blatant about it and said character isn't major, it's not a problem. reborn's creator is the champion but she's a minor one off that dies. insurgence has suzerain being this supposedly super important trainer but he's a postgame boss with once again little to no true relevance or presence in the plot. rejuv has jan but he's actually one of the few times a self insert is done right, since all he does is provide help and isn't an autistic OC.

once again - why is this an issue? water absorb is a pretty good ability for a fire/rock type and makes it so they don't die instantly to one of their very common weaknesses

Also water-absorb sounds meh. It'd need damn good stats to be a problem. Now, classic gen 3 Wondereye, there's a problem you can only solve with status effects.

I'm currently playing Pokemon Reloaded, which isn't turn based but real-time sandbox combat. The creator is the Leader of the 8th gym and later he turns into the most important character of the region, member of the Elite Squad or some shit, kind of a vigilante team, and he takes you to capture Mewtwo's son (no kidding) that later evolves into Mewthree whose sprite is Mewtwo's body with Lugia's head, Metagross' claws and Articuno's wings.

Also most caves music is Halloween's (the movie) theme. And some minor regions have pop music.

It's such a shame the creator is so autistic, the game is actually pretty good.

Damn, you make a good point. Sometimes, it really is kids that make these things, and if they make 100/300 whole pokemon and a whole region with hours worth of playtime for free, I guess they're allowed to give themselves these champion roles within the game world.

Now if they charged us Patreon money for "Early Access" and "Special Rewards", THEN I'd be pissed.

Up until post-E4 the game is great despite some flaws. Also most of the dialog is in Engrish/Spanglish because the creator is a Spaniard, but they promised to rewrite it all in the next updates.

It features real time combat so it's worth a try, specially because you'll never use the same strategies than in other normal turn-based Pokemon games (I have Teleport on my Lv70 Gardevoir because it allows to blink some distance across the arena. Also, attacks that never miss like Swift or Rain Dance+Thunder combo are invaluable).

The music is a real issue but you can just swap a few files in the data folder and choose the music yourself.
