>>34668389May as well start from the beginning with
>Red/BlueMostly identical aside from a few version exclusive Pokemon
>YellowStart with a Pikachu and can obtain the other three starters later. Your rival has a different team, some gym leader teams are changed, sprites look more like the anime, and there are Team Rocket anime counterparts you fight occasionally. More use of color too.
>Gold/SilverIndirect sequels to RBY. New region with 100 new pokes. References characters and plotlines from RBY. Introduces the Steel and Dark type pokemon.
>CrystalThird version of Gen II. Mostly similar with some added plot invo;ving the legendary on the cover. Some sprite animations and a short battle tower is added.
>Ruby/SapphireGen III on the GBA. Around 150 new pokemon and a new region. Two enemy teams, but focuses on one depending on which version you play.
>EmeraldThird version of R/S and commonly seen as the definitive version of Gen III. You get to fight both enemy team members and there's a facility called the Battle Frontier available in the post game
>Fire Red/Leaf GreenGBA remakes of Gen I. Brings the game up to date with dark and steel typing along with retyping of certain moves to better balance the Psychic type of Gen I. Includes a new set of islands to visit.
>Diamond/PearlGen IV, new region and pokes. Somewhat slow so most people prefer the third version. Did revamp the battles by making each attack now a physical or special rather than relying on the type itself.
>PlatinumAnother definitive version this time of Gen IV. Tweaks a few things and throws in some badly needed fire types. Slightly different plot near the end. A New Battle Frontier is added.
>Heart Gold/Soul SilverRemakes of Gen II. Includes crystal's extra plot and several additional features, including Platinum's Frontier. New gym leader rematches and some extra scenes developing your rival. Each leading pokemon will also follow you like Pikachu in Yellow did.
