what possible leads would work?

The game is literally unplayable without Team Preview, there's a reason it's been in every game since Pokemon Stadium

I know the luck factor is bigger without team preview, but at the same time you'd have to be more aware of other threats you usually ignore (or at least are able to easily control) in normal play, say contrary spammers, magic bouncers, FEAR, and so on; maybe that'd stop the repetition of teams and improve unique game styles

when you see team preview, you can determine before the battle starts what strats could work, what you need to look out for before setting up with a certain mon, knowing about Flash Fire/Motor Drive/Volt and Water Absorb. just knowing give so much away about the opponents team.
