The highest selling 3DS games thus far are Pokemon core RPGs, Mario Kart 7, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario 3D Land, and Animal Crossing. Ace Attorney, Layton, and other puzzle solving franchises don't even come close to those sales numbers, and are nichey as best. This game is only getting attention because of memes. Otherwise it would be like Ranger and Mystery Dungeon; maybe gross over a million in sales but won't sell anything impressive.
