I like the idea behind it, but the execution is lacking. The shovel and the edges below its eyes ruin its design for me. (Though I like the shovel on Sandygast.)

Nah Pallosand is actually brilliant because it lets them use a very common concept that would otherwise be difficult to make into a Pokemon (a haunted castle) and find a way to implement it in a aesthetically pleasing manner (haunted sand castle).

If you're going to complain about object Pokemon, Ghost is the wrong place to start. They all have a reason for being animate.

Me too, actually. I always thought Sandygast's shovel was supposed to be a reference to murder victims with axes stuck in their heads, since it's a ghost type and all. But then Palossand's shovel becomes something more like a spinning antenna or satellite dish, not very interesting in comparison and just kinda outta nowhere.

It's kind of the point that humans and industrialisation affect how Pokemon look. As sandcastle would be common structures that would seem normal to humans on the beach it would naturally try to mimic the appearance of one

To be honest I like most objectmons, but the reasoning for the ghost ones are probably the most lazy. "It's haunted by a ghost" could be used to justify just about anything, and it ends up having this weird incongruency when you consider this is the same universe that contains Rotom, a Pokemon that's not solely defined by what it's possessing.
