Blue never "came out of nowhere" and Blue wasn't "le asshole supreme" that people tend to misremember.
He was your friend, who gave you plenty of advice multiple times throughout the journey, which he would because hes your FRIEND and you're lagging behind him. Sometimes he would throw some banter here and there but all the time before or after that, he would always give you some tips, which the only exception being the Champion battle, for very obvious reasons.
