Dartrix and Torracat are cool though. Brionne is really awkward compared to how good its prevo and evo look

Overall in terms of being a halfway point, Dartrix doesn't really make much sense. The other two are a coherent transition between their first and third forms, but Dartrix doesn't feel much like Decidueye

It's originally designed as a standalone mon, of course it would look great. It would be more fair if you would compare middle stage mons that have been made along with its evos in the same gen.

Middle stages are important in most cases, seeing as how the games and EXP are structured. Introducing two stage starters would probably require changing the mechanics at a base level.

Most Gen V 2-stage mons such as Volcarona and Bisharp really needs a middle stage. Leveling up a stage-1 mon all the way to 50s is absolutely ridiculous.

Dartrix (I kinda like it)

Sure, some of them are awkward, but most of them are pretty dang lovable, whether because of coolness like Charmeleon or cuteness like Marshtomp.
