To be honest with you I'm disappointed with these elements:
Clearly unfinished story. Lysandre dying in a way we were shown is underwhelming. Eternal Floette has not been released. Zygarde was finished in wrong generation.
Annoying beginning. A lot of Pokemon games hold your hand before the gameplay starts but they usually have better characters (like in Ranger). Shauna, Trevor and Tierno are one-dimensional in a stupid way.
Lacking postgame. Earlier (DS) generations made you go to new locations after beating Elite Four and I've loved it. At least Friend Safari exchanging was fun and breeding was easy.
Difficulty is not important to me at all, unless I'm fighting the same weak enemy all the time (Team Rocket in RBYGSC) or locations are a pain to get through (postgame Victory Road in DPP).
Soundtrack was simply amazing in this gen. And I like a lot of new Pokemon introduced as well. Could easily build 2-3 different in-game teams with them. Starters were pretty good. Region itself was a little too linear but it was still fun to explore.
>tl;dr: These games could be better but I like them nonetheless.>>34683357I disagree with your descriptions of each generation.
Generation 3 should be known as a gen which gave a baseline for current team building and Pokemon battling. Not a fucking narrative which is, in its core, the same deal as in other Pokemon games.
Generation 4 mixes previous elements (e.g. gen 2 day/night cycle and trees as well as gen 3 battle frontier and contests) with newer ones (faster UI movements thanks to touchable screen and WiFi). Gameplay wasn't really that changed if you don't count WiFi.
Generation 5 tried to be another generation 1 with its huge Pokedex (which didn't include old Pokemon in BW). Disconnecting with its roots my ass.
