We all know the typical cycle. I seriously doubt Ash will win the league in Alola (of all places). Where do you think the anime will resort to next? A better goal? More battles? Will animation team 'Team Kato' along with OLM, Inc. stick with the SM art style or resort back to the typical OS-XY art style?

Thoughts?

Anon, old art style is dead. M21 proves it. If it becomes successful, OLM might start working with WIT on regular series.

I feel like Ash's role in sm is kinda pointless
Most of the cast specializes in other stuff (cooking, fishing etc)

Sure he could be the best but when there's no competition it doesn't /really/ matter

He's kinda out of place because, aside Kiawe and Gladion, there aren't many battle drived trainers to keep him training seriously.

I don't mind with slice of life, but I hope the next region focus more in battles, even if there isn't journey and it's in a fixed place like Melemele.

Can’t believe Ash told Alain he’s starting from zero. If Alola was his ‘start from zero’ its a pretty bad start, SM feels completely like an entire filler series. There’s rarely any action or battles. It’s just silly and goofy episodes with Rotom or another person’s Pokemon.

Do you think they regret coming up with the school concept? I mean, besides a short arc during BW, the entire series before SM has been based around travelling. Going from one place to another, meeting new people and pokemon, and showing the region's landmarks and features from the games.
Even if I love how fresh SM feels, when I consider its seemingly random pacing and arcs, it's like they still have no idea how to write a series where the characters stay in one place almost the entire time.

You're not the only one. This whole SoL and memefaces has already become superfluous in SM even though it is not even funny and it is quite annoying .. more action and battles is urgently needed in SM so it does not feel like filler.
