I don't think we'll see DPPt remakes for a long time, if ever. I just don't really see the audience for them, people just bring them up on boards like this because people love their patterns and are used to the idea of getting sequential remakes. But I don't know if your average joe Pokémon player cares. You know what they do care about though? Kanto. You know when we last got Kanto? GBA.
I say it's far more likely we get Kanto, and it would frankly make far more sense for Nintendo to make Gen 1 the next big remake on the Switch. That would get casual Go players to buy the system in droves, while DPPt would see diminishing returns from ORAS' already diminished returns from HGSS.
You can bitch all you want about genwunners and nostalgia pandering, but as the initial success of GO revealed, that's what sells most. Honestly I wouldn't even be surprised if Gamefreak uses the Switch as an opportunity to soft reboot the series back to the original 150 for a while, and it's hard to argue that wouldn't be a fantastic business model.
