I’ve wondered this since I was a kid and I want to ask: what is the term for an encounter of a Pokémon on the field? I’ll try to explain what I mean as best I can. You walk into a cave or some room or shit like that, and you see the overworks sprite of a Pokémon. You talk to it and you are engaged in a battle. Usually a legendary, but not always. I would include Pokémon like spiritomb in gen IV because even though you don’t see the sprite it still seems to fit in this category in a way. I would probably exclude Pokémon like kecleon in gen 3. What would you call this?
