For a Pokémon board, I don't see a lot of users actually battling each other. Why is that?

I play Pokemon and I enjoy playing it on my own. Most /vp/ users don't seem really friendly or keen to have a battle with you without calling you some epithets like Unovabortion, Genwunner and so on. Why should I play with such people?

because pokemon isn't just battling, there's trading, shiny hunt, ingame battling, plushies, replaying games, living dex, shiny living dex, breeding, buying clothes, buying tms, buying all items, contests, pokeathlon, non-main games, battle facilities (a BUNCH of them), upping plaza, ANIME, movies, fan drawing, CARDS, action figures, collection in general, etc...

personally, i'm not interested in battling online

I have unironic crippling social anxiety and have no idea how battling works since gen 2. I think I would like to battle but the battles I've seen online they all have level 50 Pokemon for some reason and I'm confused if I shouldn't level some of my pokes up to 51 (since maybe I can't use them anymore) or if I should bother training up something since maybe they all just become lvl 50 once the battle starts.

So really I just shiny hunt and breed "perfect" Pokemon and never get to use them outside of single player. That and having fun with character dressups
