Because icy areas are always lategame, not just in Pokemon

They don't fit into the early game because they're too threatening, you start players out in "safe" areas like grasslands then work up to more threatening terrain

I'd love to see a Pokemon region where you START OUT somewhere cold. That way there'd be early game Ice types as opposed to "grassland hometown #57". We just need more early game Ice types. And more fast, offensive Ice types. With good movepools. I just want more Ice types, dammit

They should implement a migration mechanic in game so you can find different types of flying types and fish in the same route at different times. That way you don't encounter the same Route 1 Birb every time you start.

Monday: Taillow/Pidgey
Tuesday: Fletchling
Wednesday: Delibird
Thursday: Murkrow
Friday: Pidove/Starly
Saturday: Wingull
Sunday: Hoppip

Also wild Timpole/Barboach/Poliwag in puddles in early routes.

Here's an idea I had for a region where your home is up in the snowy mountains, and a few ice types are available early on.

Because the game is not meant to be balanced, some Pokemon are just stronger than others. Early game pokes obviously will have shitty abilities.

Multiplayer is an afterthought to Game Freak.

I'm going to do a mono-Ice run once I get around to playing them

It's not the best, but it's a start. I hope in future games they include some Ice types early on more often. Even something simple like a dank cave or a grassy area at night should be able to house one or two encounters; Swinub, Sneasel, and Smoochum can all work well outside of the "obvious Ice world" setting

It's not official but the first few routes in Prism are all snowy and there are loads of ice types, and it doesn't feel imbalanced. It can work.

yes and I gave the champion Bellossom because I like it and I feel it helps represent how I envision the region's culture. I'm not an expert when it comes to stats of all the Pokemon so if it isn't a Champion-level Mon then that's my mistake lol.

Bellossom is... really bad. Like, if it was in the 5th gym or something it would already be outclassed, especially since at that point the player has more than enough stuff to deal with it.
Maybe make the champ crazy strong and have Bellossom as a small breather in the middle, that might actually be fun. Give it annoying moves so you can't just set up on it either.

Neat overall, but all the champ's Pokemon are super slow. Consider adding some faster guys on the team, or replace Eelektross with Sticky Web Galvantula.

As for the other E4 members, maybe consider different "jungle archetypes." Like, rearrange the Normal guy's team a little, and you could make him an old man explorer, pith hat and all. Maybe the fairy type user could be sort of shamanistic (though that's rather close to the Witch Doctor concept admittedly, maybe more of a focus on flowers and perfumes? Medical research is big in the Amazon.)

all they gotta do is make more fast offensive Ice types and less slow, "defensive" ones. They really don't have to do much else other than that.

Ice shouldn't resist Ground, though. If anything, it needs a mutual resistance to Water, along with a Normal resist (for the same reason as Rock and Steel), and an Electric resist (Ice is a poor conductor). That way, Ice carves an incredibly useful niche for itself as being resistant to BoltBeam as well as the Normal/Water combo, without actually breaking character as a type.

I like it, but I doubt GF is gonna give a typing four resistances in one change, especially after they've been hellbent for generations now to make defensive ice types. The likes of Avalugg, Regice, Cloyster, etc would probably need to be reworked a bit.

Plus early Seel, though it takes a while to become Ice type because only Dewgong is Ice type for some reason. Vulpix/Sandshrew and Snorunt were always available in Tapu Village though, so that hasn't changed much.
