Not OP, but I don't have wi-fi where I live and I don't have the option to install a router because I've got shitty student housing. I really hate today's gaming mentality of 'connecting to the internet is a crucial part of playing the game'. I just want my single player games, man. I don't want to have to download day 1 patches for a game I bought already. I don't want to download the DLC that'll show me the game's true ending. I've literally never connected my PS3 to the internet and I have over fifty games for it.
That said complaining about Pokémon games not being fully single player is like complaining about the sun coming up every day. It's been this way for twenty years. At least now you don't need to have actual friends to get Alakazam since you can just put up a Kadabra and ask for another Kadabra in return. Back in my day you needed two game boys, a link cable and two game cartridges.
