keep low expectations for gen 8
one of the reasons this board hates gen 6 and gen 7 so much is because they hyped themselves up to the point where the final product could never deliver on their unrealistic expectations

competitively gen 7 is worse. in general I feel like gen 7 gets a free pass from /vp/ because of the localized setting of hawaii and most of the mons having to do with hawaiian lore though and of course the novelty factor. I'm sure when gen 8 drops gen 7 will be regarded by everyone as what is really is: trash

the only saving grace for gen 7 are the UB and the tapus. apart from that 95% of mons are garbage: crabrawler, tsareena, golisopod, incineroar, primarina, decidueye, kommo-o, silvally, palossand, salazzle, shiinotic, vikavolt, lycanroc, toucannon. all of those should be the aces of gen 7 but they're all trash for some reason. only decent mon is toxapex desu
