Why do all the flying-type specialists focus on birdlike Pokemon? There is a much greater diversity in the type.

Taking away those doesn't leave you with very many non-birds and the ones that you do have usually aren't all within the same region. Closest you could come is if Skyla dropped Unfezant for Sigilyph, but even then it's still technically a bird.

Falker says himself that he's a bird specialist, and Kahili uses birds because she's a golfer. (USUM replaced her one non-bird, Crobat, with Hawlucha)
