Fishing has always been shit. It's nice to swim everywhere but being forced to surf is a fucking pain. Surfing should always be an optional method to explore areas not a necessary way to travel.

I'm only going by technicality since I was pretty disappointed that the entire length of the river couldn't be surfed on. This and route 8 had excellent oceans.

Just carrying over my annoyance with the huge unsurfable lake at Anistar. On a side note, it's kind of disappointing that the ice cave only has generic fishing mons and no water ice types.

And done. Honestly, the rivers and the lakes are the worst part. Ocean bits have always gotten blocked off, but freshwater is usually open for at least fishing.

That ain't really a bad thing. Pokemon's "stand by any body of water and push A until you find what you want" fishing mechanics were always kind of stupid. Moving away from it at all is a step in the right direction.

God damn Kalos was comfy as fuck. I like how all the rivers flow down from Frost Cavern and spread throughout the map.

The Old Rod was ~100% Magikarp. (But sometimes you'd have 95% Magikarp 5% other)
The Good Rod was ~25% Magikarp (depending on the route, of course)
The Super Rod was ~5% Magikarp. (Though it would also have it's own shitmons.)
I may be remembering this wrong.
