Nealy half the fairies are considered pretty poor pickings for the tier with mimikyu being gen 5 uu's ambipom. koko and lele are too busy spamming their terrain stabs to remember they're even fairy. Mag, bulu and clef are the only relevant fairies that play into their typing.

It's weird. Lando is still around for so long because it can play all sorts of different roles on a team based on its stats, ability and movepool, so there's essentially no excuse NOT to use it. Every other Pokemon seems to be a single role gimmick. If someone brings out Toxapex, Mega Lopunny, etc., you know exactly what they're going to be used for.

Defensive typing is actually why i'm taking those mons into account though. Mag clef and bulu work great because they benefit from their fairy defensive typing. I'll concede lele benefits from fairy for phat fighting resist and dark neutrality. For koko though, it doesn't want to ever be taking hits and i don't even think it runs fairy stab half the time.

Because the movepool of what offensive fairy moves can be used is extremely narrow. Dazzling Gleam, Moonblast, Play Rough, and Fleur Cannon for Magearna. And MAYBE Draining Kiss. Every other move will either not have STAB or is a weak gimmick move. That makes most offensive fairies predictable as fuck, ESPECIALLY Mimikyu.

More diverse moves with various effects, like other offensive types get. If there's only three or four different moves worth using, and only a handful of Pokemon who can capitalize on them, then they're ALWAYS going to run those moves. There's no point in running a Mimikyu without Play Rough or a Tapu without Moonblast, but at the same time, everyone knows you're going to use those moves, and will play around you. In other words, the shallow move selection makes them predictable.

Pretty much the only things I could think of is priority moves or something that inflicts status. Anything else would either be used exclusively by more defensive pokemon or be outclassed by the higher than average BP the other moves are boasting.

It may as well be at this point. Even at +2 it's still weak as shit and misses out on important KOs. It's viable in OU, but there's talk of dropping it to the C ranks, and rightfully so; in practice it's overrated and can't put up the offensive pressure it should. And it's straight up dead weight against bulkier teams.

It also helped that Outrage got buffed to 120 BP.
In Pokemmo for example, they just added gen5 after being mostly a gen3 game, and in order to keep Dragons manageable without Legendaries around they kept Outrage at 90 BP. Lo and behold, they weren't nearly as strong as in gen4/5 Smogon OU.

Koko's Fairy type allows it to soft check certain mons like Hawlucha on top of the Dazzling Gleam STAB that's good for the Specs set. Overall though it's probably the fairy that benefits less from its type. Lele is harder to Pursuit trap thanks to its typing which is huge, while Bulu, despite no STAB, gains huge defensive benefits from its typing.

You could use Landorus and Magearna as you defensive core with Lanforus being the SR user, Ash Gren as your special wallbreaker and spikes setter with Specs and Kartana with SD and the Z move as the physical, Koko could be the defoger mainly for webs. Lele could be a decent cleaner with scarf but I think that Hawlucha could do it work better in that team.

Kartana would need to be scarf because otherwise that team has no speed control.

I think if your using scarf kart bulu would be a much better partner over koko.
Bulu should be AV and change magearna to shift gear.
Last slot needs to be a breaker so probably heatran.

They are considering to give it the S rank, the meta changes has been mostly benefical for it and getting defog in USUM was a really good buff. Now it can also work as support while it still being an offensive thread in many teams that apreciate the extra slot that Kartana gives now that those teams doesn't need other mon to defog/spin.
