I think it's overall not as good as the GBA/DS games because of the few mechanics it's missing, the most major ones for me being randomized missions and the online rescue board from Explorers (you can get help by giving someone a QR code but there's no just browsing people who post their shit online and trying to do it faster than anyone else; I spent hours and hours helping people like that in Explorers before the online shut down), and the pacing is very wonky, but it does a lot of things right, has all the Pokémon from Gen 1-6 sans Volcanion, the ability to give yourself temporary boosts via randomly found items that disappear at the end of a dungeon is a nice idea. Connection Orbs are nice for being able to get 100% completion but they really should've had it run parallel with procedurally-generated mission that just give you money and a low random chance to recruit enemies in dungeons, that way people like me still get the replayability we want.
Fuck the break system though, if you don't want me using the overpowered Pokémon you give me via Connection Orbs, then don't give me those Pokémon at such a high level so early, it ends up preventing me from just having a steady team.
