Why is there any reason to play emerald over oras? Is Maxie randomly wanting to pour rocket fuel in a volcano because he somehow thinks that will make it erupt, all for absolutely no reason really that much better?

This and Pokemon Amie are the only reasons I would play ORAS over Emerald, desu.

If you don't care about either then Emerald is the better game.

RSE had the most pathetic rival ever.
Also, physical/special split, day and night cycle, reusable TMs, repel system, better PokeNav, and all those other obvious gameplay improvements.

I cannot play a pokemon game without Physical/Special split any more. if Dark was physical and ghost was special maybe, but they aren't, and even if they were, so many pokemon are way less useful because of the lack of the split. Both the fire and Water starters in emerald have better physical than special, making them only useful with their secondary types. Plus the variety is a little better in the remakes. If it wasn't for those I could stick with emerald, and I've played theta Emerald dx (ex?) which is pretty good.

Both are pretty good for their own reasons. I'd mostly go for ORAS, but I'm pretty sure I'll go for a Emerald replay in the future.

Btw, how's that Emerald edit posted here with updated gameplay and full Double Battle? It looked pretty neat, and I didn't download it ar the time for some reason.
