People say that limited TM use made the game more "challenging", but they forget about what REALLY made limited TM usage stupid: having to play through the whole damn game again just to get 1 other copy of a certain TM. THAT was stupid.

HMs are even worse! There's a lot of reasons why HMs suck, but in my opinion, the biggest one of all is that you can't get rid of HMs until you find a Move Deleter. That's the big cheese. The biggest, most rotten of all the cheese. And it stunk bad.

now watch Game Freak bring back HMs for the remake of the most HM-heavy region in the series

Hms were fine they just needed to be removable.
Ride Pokemon are super shit because now im forced to use the pokemon of others, some that arent even native to the region, and can't get the immersion of being self sufficient.

Of course, with all the story based roadblocks were had locked to c utscenes in gen 7 I don't even see why we need obstacles at all anymore.

It just adds a bit of damage, there could just be a setting or format where u can choose to play without certain moves like a battle filter that won't pair u up with players using certain moves/mons that u can set

That a cloned/Injected/Hacked pokemon has equal sentimental value to a pokemon that was caught legitimately and raised legitimately. They don't realize that those clones etc it's actually worthless.

The next worse thing is people in the shiny hunting threads hunting in ways that voids the legitimacy of the shinies they are hunting for.

HMs should either
A. Be innate, so aquatic Pokemon (and some others) can learn surf outside of battle without learning the move. Fighting type Pokemon (and some others) can use Rock Smash. Pokemon with claws can use Cut, etcetera.
B. Once an HM is learnt, make the Pokemon know the ability forever even if the move is deleted
C. Replace HMs with items.

Better yet, make a separate "slot" for the HM. You still need to teach the Pokemon, but you don't need to use up one of the four move slots.
Of course, you can still teach one mon a bunch of HM moves; practically limitless.

Good idea as well, but mileage may vary; some people can get quite hung up on the "traveling with your bros" aspect.

how about, if the pokemon can learn the hm, and you have the appropriate badge or future equivalents, the pokemon can use the hm's effects outside of battle. no need for the 5th slot or whatever, if it can learn it, it can use it without learning it

Correct, but it's not really *that* limiting unless you're using a very specific team that doesn't have a strong Pokemon that can use Rock Smash/Rock Climb/Strenght or Cut (being the HMs most mons can learn), and it's miles better than the current system anyway.

True, but I was thinking more along the line of needing a Water type to surf or Flying type to fly, so any other type is at a disadvantage.
Granted, it's only really a problem in monotype run, and even that can be circumvented. Unless the one doing it is very strict, I'm not judging.
