X and Y and USM directs were both on tuesday. Mega svolution direct was on wednesday. SM direct was friday because 20th anniversary. It seems that more major directs are on tuesday. Also, we know masuda and his crew have been filming around 2 weeks ago. They even changed the dolls that you see in the backrounds of directs,so that could be a really big hint.

I just want this game to be something else... something fantastic, open world, pokemon running around catching them. And have the theme ''Gotta catch em all'' in the game. But game freak said we should not have our expectations high. So my guess is that they are going to make a normal pokemon game... no new battle system, just normal. But with better graphics... that's just me.

Why are people so sure we are getting gen 8 this year? I know Nintendo wants to sell 20 million switches this fiscal year, but this fiscal year hasn't even started yet, it lasts from Spring 2018 to Spring 2019, therefore the game can release in 2019 and still for within Nintendos goal of Fiscal year 2018.

Apart from that, why are people so determined for it coming this year? Gen 7 hasn't even been out for two hole years yet, and every generation so far has lasted 3-4 years so why would gen 7 end this early?

This better not happen. We need gap years to prevent burn out and so that development can catch up. With the small team they have, they will probably only get to two or three years before the quality drops and the games become more rushed and linear than they are now. They are no longer developing for the DS line, Switch development isn't as easy since it's a much more powerful console

It most definitely can, and would not be the first.
The switch is hot NOW and if they want to cram in two gens on one system they need to get it out soon.

Plus, it's not like they've been devoting their resources to USUM.
It's almost as lazy as pokemon yellow.
