That is my entire experience with Bruxish. It would have been really unique, but no, died in it's first real battle.

I feel like if Tapu Lele didn't exist it at least could have had a vague niche in Doubles with auto-quick guard

It does still have a niche. Not the best, but a niche. Lele can't use Trick Room while Bruxish can and Dazzling also doesn't stop your team from using priority the same way Psychic Terrain does. Additionally, Psychic Fangs breaks screens.
