Alright redpill me anons, why do people choose to have kids? I never liked them and it always baffles me why they want to invest time into something that drains your energy and money

Partially for selfish reasons like the feeling of fulfillment in seeing you child grow up and love you,as well as seeing a bit of yourself carry on.
And partially for humanitarian reasons, nothing completes the human experience more than having children and a society with lots of children is a healthy and happy one

People say they don't want kids while they are greasy teens or man children, but as you et older the regret and despair builds up

Having kids is a shitty thing to do. I don't actually want kids. However I can still see that there would be SOME benefits in having children, like sharing their first pokemon game with them. Overall though, these benefits don't outweigh the downsides and I still ultimately wouldn't want to breed. I think most men do it because falling in "love" creates an immense amount of cognitive dissonance and poor decision making. I know if I met the right woman I'd have a kid with her willingly, even if it is stupid.

I'm still gonna enjoy playing pokemon with my friend's son though. If he's like three months old now, his first game will probably be what, like gen 10?

I'm getting close to 30 and I never once regretted my choice to not have kids. It's not about being a manchild either - even as a kid I never wanted them. Just because somebody doesn't want kids doesn't necessarily mean they're incapable of taking care of them, they just choose not to (choosing big decisions isn't a manchild thing desu). Same goes for the opposite, there's tons of shitty parents out there.

As men though (I presume you're male) you and I can have kids when we are 50 years old for all we care. There's no rush for us, and that's pretty awesome to be honest. Even if you think 50 is pushing it since you'll likely die when your child is still a young person, we could still do it even at like 45 or something. We have plenty of time to have kids and be a father. If I don't become a father until I'm in my early 40s I can say by that point that I've experienced plenty of the adult male bachelor experience and I probably won't miss out on anything.

I actually should have mentioned this in the first place, I'm female. So there is definitely a rush to having kids otherwise menopause kicks in. But it doesn't bother me much since I'm not to big on kids anyway and for one woman who doesn't want kids there's probably a thousand who do want them. Plus I think I would make a better aunt than a better mom.

I can understand now why people would regret having kids now that you explained it though. Even if I don't want kids I have a partner who I hope I can be close to and see them grow into an even better person. The thought of dying alone is really depressing
