Yes, Pokemon is a console seller. But DS was out for 2-3 years before we got D/P. Likewise, 3DS was released 2 years before X/Y. By trends set in the past, a 2019 release seems likely.
Plus, look at the bigger picture: 25th anniversary will be 2021. They will be more capable of pushing a new generation in 2-2.5 years after they have experience with the console. The only way I see them not releasing gen 9 in 2021 is if they did a Kanto remake.
But what do I know? I'm just a guy on the internet. We have no evidence there will be a Pokemon game for 2018 besides a German poll that was asking what game people would be excited about.
