There is nothing difficult about Mt Coronet, it just requires a lot of HMs to fully traverse. Also for most of the game the lack of Strength and Rock Climb limits you big time so it's near impossible to get lost.

Not likely, the south of sinnoh seems to be connected to somewhere, and considering Oak travells from Kanto to Sinnoh with ease and Sinnoh being considered "to the north", it's likely that Sinnoh and Kanto/Johto are connected
