How do you feel about all the recent Kanto references? Do you think the next region will have more Kanto pandering than Alola?

I will be stunned if the first Switch game isn't a Kanto reboot. "Le original 150" is a powerful marketing tool, even if they've been resting on it for half a decade.

That's physically impossible, the only way they could pander more is by having the region be Kanto itself.

That's what people used to say when X and Y came out and now at the end of the Alola games, X and Y pandering doesn't seem bad at all. Do they really make that much money out of these references? All the "throwbacks" are kindof a nuisance and Game Freak only seems to care about Gen 1 Pokemon now. I mean Alola Forms being only Gen 1 Pokemon is pretty unfair to people who would've loved other Gens to get Alola Forms. Will this always be this way?

X/Y pandering was worse than S/M pandering.... like they copied the entire layout of viridian forest and gave us kanto starters ingame, thats way worse than giving a few new forms

Gen 7 did all have the references like Kukui and the protag coming from Kanto and the gym in USUM, but honestly none of it feels as blatant as Kanto Megas overshadowing the actual starters or Santalune Forest in Kalos. Or the Snorlax on the bridge. Or the gift Lapras.

USUM literally has Nugget Bridge, a "Kantonian Gym," Gen 1 exclusive Alola Forms, since Megas at leadt had the decency of including Gens 2, 3, and 4, the return of Team Rocket, the classic styled Meowth battle in your house, the fact Red and Blue come back since Gen 2...you sure it's not as blatant, anon?
