>>34756139And the battling portion has always been firmly rooted in turn-based gameplay. You change that, it won't be fucking Pokemon.
You can't compare it to Mario 64, as it didn't totally change genres in the jump from 2D to 3D. You're still running and jumping to an end goal, only it's been greatly expanded upon and mixed up ever so slightly. Hell, it's not like hub worlds were even NEW for the series, Super Mario World's world map could easily be seen as a more limited version of this.
As for Metroid Prime, I was actually pretty fucking salty over seeing it turned into an FPS. I just look at them as glorified side games, really.
>>34756130 has the right idea here, there should be spin-offs for what you want. I wanna keep my turn based games.>>34756149What it needs is to throw a few bones to experienced players. Less handholding, or an option to skip tutorials altogether. Honestly, that's the worst thing about newer Pokemon games. The gameplay isn't an issue, it's being stopped every two fucking seconds to watch the NPCs explain shit you've known for almost twenty years because they assume you're a first time player.
Adding a good challenge mode would also help, maybe you faggots would stop complaining if the game weren't so faceroll-y until the endgame.
And for that matter, putting in 6v6 singles into the online modes would be great. I get why Gamefreak doesn't do 6v6 for tournaments, but why do they have to prevent its players from easily doing so themselves? Some of us want longer battles.
Pokemon has problems, yes, but the gameplay isn't one of them. You're gonna take all the fucking fun out of it, turning it into a half-baked ARPG or some shit.
