game freak really doesn't like increasing a pokemon's stats apparently
also except with huge power it's not just straight up increases damage so it forces a pokemon to use certain moves

Abilities are what makes the game interesting and the pokemon unique

huge power doesn't double the base attack of the pokemon, it doubles the actual stat. IVs and EV investment are effectively doubled when the final attack stat is calculated, so simply doubling the base attack and removing the ability would make it weaker.

Technician is limited to 60BP moves
Tough Claws is limited to contact moves
Sheer Force is limited to moves with secondary effects, which it also nullifies
etc. etc.
