It's the glitch that spawned a billion "that kid" rumors and back in the days missingno was more popular than half the roster.
And everyone already knows gen 1 was a buggy mess so its not like theyd be unearthing some hidden secret.
In fact them acknowledging missingno would be nothing but good publicity.
Just imagine what game media would do if "HOLY SHIT MISSINGNO IS THE SWITCH POKEMON ANTAGONIST LEGENDARY"
