ITT things you probably don't know about Pokemon designs

Cofagrigus never opens its "mouth", so probably it's not really a mouth and it is just a white mark, like the Crawdaunt "lips". Even you can see how Cofagrigus eat in Poke Refresh to confirm this.

Solgaleo and Lunala don't have actual eyes. It's just light being projected on their clear face-orb. They don't have an idle blinking animation and only close their eyes to emote (like being fed in Refresh).

This is a huge shitpost but the whole 'black vacuous orb with eyes' thing that Shellder, Tangela, and Jynx share were just a common design trope between the three of them, but something I read into a lot when I was younger. I thought there was an implied commonality there, but not really one I ever expected them to expand on (kind of like how the Toge* line and the Lati@s share those red/blue triangle patterns, but there is unlikely to ever be any exposition on that, either.)

Glaceon's head crest and flaps is not supposed to visualize a hime-cut, contrary to popular belief.
It's actually based on an Ushanka hat, which is a Russian fur cap with ear flaps that can be tied up to the crown of the cap, or fastened at the chin to protect the ears, jaw and lower chin from the cold. This would make sense for a pokemon like Glaceon, since it's both mammalian and an ice-type.
Adding to that, parts of the geography of the Sinnoh region is based on the southern part of the Russian island Sakhalin, as well as Kunashir, which supports the point that part of Glaceon's design has a Russian touch to it.

Garchomp is lloterally an airplane. You can see it really clearly in this TCG card. Its fins are meant to be wings, its head is the nose and the things on the side of its head are the jet engines.

Kartana is actually made up, and inspired by a few different origami designs:
It's wings, body, and colour-scheme were inspired by the noshi.
It's face is a fortune teller
It's legs are based off of the hakama (which is also evident by how it is slipped into the body, instead of it being attacked over or on top)
