The enemy pokemon of the gen 6 remakes are almost completely untouched from the original, while your pokemon are now able to capitalize on stats and moves that weren't previously available. The only way the remakes do this is through the hordes of Poocheyena and Mighteyena you fight, that are no longer disgusting jokes because they can actually use their decent attack stat with Bite and Crunch.
Everything else, you are given far superior resources to fight mostly unchanged enemies, and it shows.
Part of the challenge in base RSE is how shit the pokemon variety is. If you don't use your starter, then coming up with even a single reliable pokemon before the 4th gym is hard as fuck. Most pokemon had no good moves, limited ways to use their good stats, and so on. Fucking Linoone was one of the better early pokemon, because it had passable attack and Stab Headbutt. That's it. Come ORAS, through the magic of the special/physical split, infinite TMs, fewer early game/worthless TMs, far broader movepools learned at earlier levels in general, and if you were even a little bit lucky, pokemon with expanded egg-movepools through DexNav, even basic bitch shit like Mighteyena has every reason to stay in your party until the E4, no replacement required, where before it was pretty much unusable.
EXP. Share has absolutely nothing to do with being able to just fish up a level ~35 Sharpedo with a great physical movepool that can carry you through the rest of the game itself the second you get the Super Rod, as opposed to the sack of shit you got a decade ago.
