Pokemon Switch will release in 2019. They have never released a gen only 2 years after the last one.

That's not even true for Gen 4 the gen you say that started. DP was released 2006, then break year, platinum in 2008. They didn't have 3 consecutive game years then a break in gen 4.

A remake of R/B on Switch could literally be shat out in 6 months.

The world is stupid linear, the routes are short, and it has no story.

The ground work is all set, it could easily be rushed out and slowly improved with a season pass/DLC ala FF15.

I think they'll do both.

But Gen 8 is gonna take a lot more work than a remake of the most basic game in the series.

A basic game with stupid amounts of nostalgia.

This is not necessarily what I think will happen, I'm just saying doing a rushed Kanto remake with the B team for 2018 would be an effective strategy for making Gen 8 feel like real current gen game.

Any remake in Gen VIII will be D/P and you know it. Also, there will never be a remake to start a Generation, they just don't sell, compared to a new region. Even if they stuffed it with Megas for another 50 pokémon and added in the same number of new regional forms, still wouldn't be enough to warrant releasing before a new region.
