Elise really isn't unique or developed enough that we could really say that we haven't gotten one yet. The only thing of note that Elise does is make Sonami fanfics moist with Sonamifag tears.

There is only one way that happens, if they completely abandon the current battle system. SM are probably the closest to being bad, but what saves it is the tried and true combat system. Sonic lives or dies by its control of Sonic. Something Sonic Team have struggled with for as long as Pokemon's been around.
