I would probably stop buying the games for a few years if that was the effort they put into them.

My favourite thing about a new generation is exploration and discovering new Pokemon (I go in blind as to not spoil myself on all of the new stuff). Honestly, I'm disappointed with anything less than 100 new Pokemon (Which Gens 6 and 7 are guilty of) so only 30 would be a breaking point

Thats awful. Who cares if theres a thousand pokemon? you have 2-3 years in between generations to get them. A full pokedex can be completed in a month if you do it casually, a week if you go hardcore.

Only if it meant GF going through old mons and buffing their BSTs, movepools, and abilities; only then would I be fine with 30 new Pokemon.

Fuck genwunners and gen5 haters sun had moon had 2 FUCKING PIKACHU inspired mons and 7+ fucking pikachu events. After doing a pikaclone run in ultra sun I feel they've maxed out on this pika charade.

Enough is enough of this pandering shit. I've enjoyed it still but this better be the last goddamn time. I just want to start fresh on a journey again without having to rely on old mons I've caught/used already.

Not going to lie, I love new mons more than anything in a new game so I’ll buy it but I’d probably start a petition to not ever fucking do that again in future games and get as many signatures/acknowledgments as I could so that GF would know without a doubt that fans want more new Pokémon than they have been giving us.

Honestly, with over 800 right now I hardly care about new pokemon anymore.
You could play the latest game a thousand times over and have a completely unique team every single time.

I'd rather they make a better game than shoehorn in a dozen new pointless legendaries that immediately get banned to ubers.

This is more likely to happen in Gen 10 (as the series reaches the 1000 pokemon mark)

I actually really don't give a shit on too many newmons, I really just want Gamefreak to take a whole gen to reset, rebalance, and reshuffle shit. Give us updated movepools that actually make sense, give us stats buffs or nerfs to balance out pokemon to be overall better to mitigate power creep, give us old features back and improve upon them, consolidate all the Mega Stones, Z-Crystals, Plates, and Memories into a singular item and just let you change the type or stone or whatever when equipped (ex: "Mega Stone" will just mega evolve whatever mega-evolvable pokemon is there, memory will give you the option to pick what type it will represent, etc.)

Give us a better TM selection, buff certain moves, make double battles matter more or just fucking remove them already (as in, it makes no sense for VCG to be strictly doubles but the main game pretty much ignoring doubles). Give us a hard/easy mode at the very beginning. Give us a cutscene skipping option.

God forbid we want to pay for something new to be an actual fresh new experience.

I want them to balance old mons, too. But clearly, they are averse in doing that. They try a bit, but most of their favorites remain favorites anyway. A lot of us have been waiting for GF to rebalance this game but it's never happening.

I thought SM's story is really reminiscent of Colosseum's. If SM didn't have any new Pokémon to introduce, and instead focused on balancing the existing Pokédex and rejigging how Mega Stones, etc. are handled, would it really have been that different?

GSC was exciting because it was in colour and introduced new mechanics and improved movepools. The new Pokémon were a big deal, but once you started playing the game, it was exciting to see Pidgey in glorious GBC colorvision as it was a Hoot-Hoot.

Gen 6 and 7 are the first portable games in the series in 3D, and that should've been exciting in its own right. They managed to drop the ball so much that we (rightfully) shit on these games all the time.

Yes, it's for me too. But I understand the game needs at least one generation to balance the game, fix some gimmicks (some evolution gimmicks) and remove some useless moves/items/abilities.

I care more about the distribution of moms in the regional Dex more then the new Pokémon introduced. I think Gen 7 and gen 3 had the better distributions where you wouldn't encounter geodude/roggenrolla, zubat/woobat most of the time in every cave.

I agree on doubles being more important in-game. The GC games were great fun and pretty much cemented doubles as my preferred format. I'd even go so far as to say singles/doubles should be a choice in options like shift/set and if you want to play through the single player game in singles or doubles it should be up to you. As for why VGC is doubles only, it's because double battles are SIGNIFICANTLY faster than singles (important for real life tournaments).

I'd be enclined to agree if we actually got quality Pokemon. Right now we're getting neither.
The last 2 generations have some of the smallest and worst Pokedex in the series.
I especially hate how many single stage Pokemon they introduced. Like wtf? Evolution is supposed to be a core concept of Pokemon, are they trying to drop that too?

I know, I regard them as such as well (as the dex considers them sublegends).
I was more meaning to say that the restrictions (save for breeding) on legends don't really apply to them because of their infinite obtainability. High amounts of legendaries typically detract from the amount of new Pokemon to catch in the world simply because there's only 1. If there's say, that large amount you stated with only a small amount of Pokemon overall, having more legends means that the new Pokemon variety is reduced to one time only encounters for a big part of the dex. Some of them being just catchable as often as one likes lessens this a lot, and the limiting of encounterable, standard Pokemon is my main issue with legend bloating in the games.
Hence UBs are somewhat more acceptable to me, discounting ones like Poipole being an exclusive giftmon and such.

If gen 8 introduced 30 new Pokémon after gen 7 was out for lol half a year that’d be totally fine with me. If it was after 2 and a half years I’d be really mad

Introducing small amounts is fine if it doesn’t take fucking forever. That’s why I enjoyed gen 5 so much, for introducing 156 pokemon after 4 years. I was a little annoyed with gen 6 only having 72 new Mons but since they didn’t take he usual 4 years I didn’t really care

The only reason I’d be fine with waiting for Pokémon Switch until 2019 is if they want to introduce 100+ Pokémon. If they’re going to do 70ish again just release it at the end of this year

Please, there's over 800. I'm sure that's enough to be able to have a relatively unique and interesting team you haven't used before. You haven't used every damn Pokemon ever. And if Gamefreak would just rebalance everything to account for power creep and such in order to make a lot more mons viable, then it would be even more optimal.

It's not even so much low numbers of new species that kill me it's that we don't get to find them ourselves in-game through exploration

For every Pokémon they show in a trailer, they should have one they don't show. Showing 50/80 or worse is fucking retarded.

The difference between quality and quantity is time. Them not taking as much time as they need is where they keep going fucking wrong. Too much to do is not a thing if there is plenty of time to do it.
