yes. usum has better pokemon and gameplay, but the story/character development (as few as there are) are much better in sm. but nobody plays pokemon for that.

Yes, the content itself is more than worth it but Battle Agency sucks balls so keep that in mind. Also be warned while it is basically almost the same story that almost means the changes that they did make cause it to be worse than SM along with shitting on certain characters and increasing the amount of shit dialogue doesn't help at all.

USUM feels more complete and in depth and SM does. However, there are certain Pokemon you can't catch in USUM (some of the island scan mons). Also, USUM doesn't have some of SM's battles and they have a completely different post-game story.

Yes and yes.
I enjoyed both SM and USUM. But frankly, if you want to play a Gen 7 game USUM is the way to go. With a more interesting story, harder difficulty and better Mons, I feel its the way to go about it.

And essentially have DLC you're forced to by in order to maintain playing online, especially if you want to play competitively? Yeah, that would've gone down well. Imagine Pokemon being added to the game in DLC bundles and yet somehow maintaining competitive play.

Well if you think the Lusamine storyline is a whole lot more interesting and important than Mantine Surfing, Rainbow Rocket, Ultra Space Legendaries, Ultra Necrozma, Move Tutors, new catchable Mons, better difficulty curve, AND more side missions, be my guest. Buy SM over USUM if you want.
