because 13-year olds are still kids but most of them begin to develop a desire to grow faster. but their idea of being an adult is usually violence/relationships/sex/drugs/hating your friends and family/etc. which is why so many of them create edgy characters and write crazy shipping stories. it makes me sad that teens these days find this stuff cringey now and are now into actually stupid shit like dabbing/virgin walk/we wuz/SJWs/tranny culture/etc.
